I didn’t play the originals, so the XCOM remake was disappointing but not upsetting. But now Syndicate is getting the same treatment. The marketing dross calls it a “visceral FPS experience” and I’ll agree the news gives me a visceral experience, but not in a positive way. Don’t we have enough FPS games already?

That kind of proves my point though doesn’t it? We have tons of first-person perspective shooters out there already where the existing IP makes more sense, like Space Marine. Not to mention the Syndicate remake sounds a lot like the third Deus Ex, granted there’s not much detail.

maybe people buy fps more than rts; or are not very popular in asia… :S
how fantastic would it be if the new xcom was turn based like before?

It’s all about money, not necessarily making it, but getting enough together to make a game. You can’t do that by telling investors about an old 3/4ths overhead squad based game from 1994.

As deeply disappointing to me as that is.

I mean yeah, I’d so much rather play a 21st century version of syndicate or x-com, but good luck finding anyone to invest in those gameplay mechanics.
