I know, I said I was giving up on the game, but Rock, Paper, Shotgun posted about a mod that allows all kinds of cheating. I don’t actually want to cheat, but the boss battles feel so out of place in the game. It really comes down to cheat past this block, or not play the game at all.

My plan is to use the debug mode to bypass the boss battles, but that’s it. I may even go as far as disabling the mod after each boss battle is over so I’m not tempted to cheat. I’m thinking of it as editing Eidos’ rough draft.

I hear ya. I basically did the same thing for Oblivion. Played on Normal until I hit something difficult, then slide the slider down toward easier, and back up after the tough fight.

I haven’t really been playing “sneaky”, only when I feel like it. It’s not generally my style, so I’m glad this game gives you the choice. Most of the criticism I’ve seen stems from these boss fights though. I haven’t gotten to the first one yet, but I think almost. Wondering how I’ll feel about it, as someone who hasn’t been really shy to use my gun so far.

I am glad that there is a workaround available. I still haven’t picked it up, this may push me to the PC version.

Despite all my complaining about the last boss on twitter, the game is quite good. I really love the choices you get at the end of the game. I would have to say that I was very satisfied with my playthrough and the ending I chose. Upgrade to the typhoon early, it is an extremely helpful tool to take out bosses with. And giant robots.

Having finished the game, I think the boss battles got really disappointing. Everyone wants to feel like a badass taking on and endgame boss, but not when your entire playstyle, augmentation upgrades and focus has been on stealth and non-violence.

The boss battles force you to try one strategy and playstyle only, in order to win. Which is kind of ridiculous, because the entire game is about “making” choices, and boss battles should be about carefully applying what you have learned in the game so far.

Sneaking around for hours is not going to help me again an invisible banshee that charges at me at the speed of light!
