I’ve been noticing a difference in the level of communication between the Champions and Star Trek teams for a long time now, but the April Ask Cryptic posts provided a pretty stark contrast.

The Champions’ Ask Cryptic is about 15 questions, if you’re lazy like me and count the question marks. The answers provided are all pretty short and generally uninformative, although funny in several cases. Overall, it was a disappointing update. It also bugged me that there’s not mention of who was doing the writeup. Was it Poz? Were the questions handled by different team members? It felt very non-personal to me.

Star Trek’s Ask Cryptic is about 51 questions, calculated the same way. There are actually thirty-two questions listed, but most of them are actually at least two questions. More importantly is that the answers provided are detailed and informative, and the writeup is done by Dan Stahl.

I still enjoy playing both games, though I’ll admit I’ve spent more time in STO lately than CO, so I hope that the level of communication from the Champions team improves. Stahl’s team is definitely a tough act to follow.

I suspect this is a simple demonstration of the popularity of the two games. STO has a larger player base providing more income to fuel a larger live team. The issues pressing on CO maybe be as large, but the community (so far) doesn’t warrant the high amount of attention Cryptic needs to lavish on STO. Hopefully FFA will make CO popular enough to require a larger team, but that has yet to occur.

Or maybe CO’s support team just needs to step up. Could go either way. 🙂

I definitely think that’s a part of it as far as new content and features goes, but I don’t think that covers the way in which the latest Q&A was done. Poz has never been the forum warrior that Stahl is but usually his producer’s letters are worthwhile.

All in all this is a pretty minor complaint, it’s the game that matters after all. Communication is just a hot button issue of mine.

I was really amazed at this month’s STO Ask Cryptic feature. I’m use to Stahl footing hard questions and responding with informative answers, but this month’s took the cake. I sat down to read it and didn’t finish till ten or fifteen minutes later!

All things said, it’s pieces like this that make me feel like my lifetime sub wasn’t a waste.

Agreed, it was quite a read and even bigger than the massive one from February.

Oh I was just going to say what Anjin said. FU anjin! get out of my head!

I just assume that CO has less things in the works to be changed and less people to so much as handle answering questions compared to STO.
